The Postnatal Multivitamin is designed to support the nutritional needs of lactation, which are different from the needs for pregnancy. While the Prenatal Multivitamin includes extra high doses of vitamins B5, B6, B12 and folate, and 100% of the RDA for iron, the Postnatal Multivitamin includes less iron and keeps the B vitamin doses at 100% of RDA. The Postnatal Multivitamin also includes a blend of herbs traditionally known to help boost milk production.
We suggest taking one capsule with breakfast, one with lunch, and one with dinner. Spreading out the dose over the course of the day will make it easier for your body to absorb all the nutrients. Taking your multivitamin with food also supports absorption and tends to make it easier on the stomach.
We suggest pairing this multivitamin with our Vegan DHA supplement while you are breastfeeding. DHA supports your baby’s healthy brain and eye development and will be passed to your baby through your milk. You may also wish to take an additional vitamin D3 supplement to help your baby meet their vitamin D requirements.
