Our magnesium complex includes two forms of magnesium: magnesium glycinate and magnesium oxide. Magnesium glycinate is magnesium chelated with the amino acid glycine for better bioavailability. This form is well-absorbed but contains a relatively small amount of elemental magnesium, so we buffered it with magnesium oxide (magnesium + oxygen) to provide a more optimal dose. Buffering also helps increase the alkalinity of the formula so that it’s less likely to cause irritation in the gut.

Our Magnesium Whole Food Powder contains magnesium carbonate and citric acid, which react together when mixed in water to form magnesium citrate. Magnesium citrate is one of the most well-absorbed forms of magnesium, but it’s also known for its laxative effects. Because of these effects, it’s best not to take magnesium citrate too regularly. Our Magnesium Glycinate Chelate Complex supplement is better for regular daily use.

I have been taking Magnesium oxide for several years. I really didn't know there was a big difference in types of Magnesium. I like this product a lot. With regular use, it does help with muscle cramping. Most people are deficient in magnesium and don't even know it, and sometimes a supplement is the solution. BT - Quality product that helped control my headaches.

I use this product for a magnesium deficiency characterized by headaches/migraines and poor sleep. I chose this product over others in a very saturated market because it's a whole food supplement, the capsule is easier to digest, and I trust the brand more than others.

I also like that you can pop the capsule open and pour the powder into a drink or food. I've been using this product for over a year, and for the past 6 months, I've actually taken two capsules of this product combined with another form of magnesium at an additional 250mg (my doctor recommended that I take at least 500mg of magnesium per day, and each of this product's capsules has 200mg); that, along with daily exercise, is what I credit to having zero migraines and significantly less headaches over these past 6 months.

I do sleep better as well, although I take two of these capsules in the morning (I take the other one at night); I think it actually has aided in lower stress during the day. I would definitely recommend this product and brand to anyone.

I have had low magnesium the past 3 years. I am taking one pill consistently the last few months. I recently had a doctor check up and I no longer have low magnesium. So i have muscle cramps from years and years I remember when i was 5 years old it started. Nothing works. I saw so many doctors they said i have to stretch but that never help.and more i get older the muscle cramps at night was so bad that I couldn't sleep . Arp - Great for period cramps

I heard magnesium could help with my debilitating period cramps, and I was willing to try anything. By my second month of taking this (1 pill every evening), I am shocked at how much it has reduced my cramps.

I used to be unable to go to work at least 1 day a month, with my cramps kicking in a day or two before my period even started. This month I was actually surprised when my period came because I had absolutely no cramps beforehand. Mind blown. I still get bloated and tired, but the cramps have improved SO MUCH.

It also has helped me somewhat with relaxing before going to sleep, but I wouldn't say it works great for that. I still need a sleeping pill some nights.

If you have really bad period cramps, definitely try this out, and give it at least 2 months of use to see if it works. The first month I hadn't fully felt the effects yet, and I am glad I stuck with it.

I have taken magnesium by other brands including Life Extensions but this one is quite different and in its own league! So, since I started taking this late at night like 1 hour before sleep, I sleep well. I don't need like 8-9 hours as I used to. I sleep less and still feel good like I slept enough and I am not tired.

Another thing is that I dream a lot OR I guess I actually remember my dreams in the morning!. Before, I used to think that I don't dream at all because I couldn't remember my dreams in the morning.

Jeff Henderson - Gentle to the metabolism

The main thing about this version is its favourable digestive gastro-intestinal effects. Many of the versions of Magnesium have a laxative effect. This one does not. I do also seem to be sleeping more calmly with this magnesium. (It is taken right before bedtime.)

I've heard doctors say the citrate version is typically at a15-20% absorption rate, which is obviously pretty low. On the other side, doctors say the glycinate form of magnesium is one of the most absorbable.

Here's a brief statement from a health site on the web: "Magnesium glycinate (magnesium bound with glycine, a non-essential amino acid) is one of the most bioavailable and absorbable forms of magnesium, and also the least likely to induce diarrhea. It is the safest option for correcting a long-term deficiency."

I agree with that statement. Even still, finding the right producer is not straightforward. I have bought other brands that did not perform as advertised. I'm very particular about getting the right sources for supplements. I give this brand an A- for reasonable cost and having a non-laxative effect.

If this company did a lab analysis and told us exactly what its product's absorption rate was as a percentage and if that percentage were at or beyond the 50% mark, I'd give this product an A+. Experts believe the body only absorbs 50% from supplements in the best-case scenario.

It would be good for supplement producers across the spectrum to start telling their customer base how well their specific product can be expected to be absorbed by an average consumer in good health based on reliable lab results.

What I do know about this product is that it is gentle on the digestive system and has a calming effect for sleep. How well it's absorbed would be great to know.

The average male should get 440-440 mg of magnesium a day, but actually, to be more specific, the consensus is that people should get 6 milligrams per kilogram (2.2 pounds). I weigh 220 pounds (or 100 kilograms) so I should get 600 milligrams of magnesium per day. Each of the capsules for this brand is 200 mg. I take 3 capsules each day (or 600 mg).

As mentioned above, I won't get the full 600 milligrams absorbed into my body. I am relying on my diet to make up the difference. This product is well-priced for the amount per capsule. Pay attention to the amount per capsule because it directly determines the bottom-line cost.
